About

Mar and Isaac in Cordoba, Spain

Like most people on the planet, we have lived most of our lives in cities: San Juan, Barcelona, New York, Rochester, London, Paris, and currently Tarragona, Spain. Like everyone, as we settled in each of these places, we went through stages of discovery and adaptation. We mapped the city’s places and resources and found ways to procure what we needed from them: we learned to urban-gather.

After several decades of urbanity, we realize that, in the end, we probably have not changed so much from the time when humans hunted and gathered for survival.

Our customs have changed, true. We have learned to build sophisticated structures and systems to ease and mediate dealing with our environment. But these are just cultural layers masking the same basic underlying needs for food, friendship and beauty.

Here, informally, we share with friends, known and unknown, random experiences in support of this view.

Summer of 2009.
